Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp has announced that Invicta FC Atomweight Champion Jessica Penne (10-1) will make her first title defense against Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson (10-3) at Invicta FC 5 which is expected to take place on April 13, 2013 at the Bren Center in Irvine, California.

Jessica Penne is a California native who trains at Checkmat, Kings MMA, and Reign MMA. Penne has won 3 consecutive fights over Amy Davis (SUB), Lisa Ellis (TKO), and Naho Sugiyama (SUB) to become the first ever IFC Atomweight champion. Penne’s only loss was at Strawweight to Zoila Frausto Gurgel. Penne has 8 wins by stoppage with 6 submissions and 2 TKO’s.

Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson trains at Jackson’s/Winkeljohns MMA in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Waterson has 4 straight wins over Rosary Califano (SUB), Masako Yoshida (TKO), Diana Rael (SUB), and Lacey Schuckman (SPD). “The Karate Hottie” is no stranger to bright lights having been on the TV shows Fight Girls and Bully Beatdown. Waterson has 8 wins by stoppage with 6 submissions and 2 TKO’s.
